Canticles in Candlelight
Join us for our annual Christmas musical celebration. This year we will present Canticles in Candlelight on Sunday, December 18 at 6:00 PM in the sanctuary of St. Elmo United Methodist Church. There will be a reception immediately following with light snacks, cookies, and drinks.
Souper Saturday
Join us for a community-wide free lunch on Saturday, September 16, 2017. We will be serving your choice of soup, salads, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks between 12:30 and 1:30. You are welcome to stay later than 1:30 to eat though. 🙂
The Souper Saturday lunch will be served at St. Elmo United Methodist Church. Parking is directly across from the church of 47th Street.
If you can’t stay for lunch, we are offering the soup and salad to go. You can pick what type of soup and/or salad you want and we will put it in a “to go” container for you. This is also a great option if you know someone who is sick and would like to take them something to eat.
Plan to stop by to have a really Souper Saturday!
The Shack: Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity
Each week, Rev. Joe-d DowlingSoka will lead discussions about salient parts of Wm. Paul Young’s best-selling book, The Shack. Originally published in 2007, it trans-formed the spiritual lives of many people.
Joe-d will be offering two opportunities for discussion each week in two differing settings: each Sunday morning at 10:00 am in the Seekers classroom starting November 6, and then again on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm at the Saint Elmo Deli starting November 7. If you miss one, make the other!
Buy a book to read – or dust off your old copy – and then join Joe-d in November as we connect with MacKenzie, Papa, Sarayu, Jesus, Sophia, and all the other charac-ters who make up the world of The Shack.
If you need to purchase a book, Joe-d has some available for $10. Make checks out to St. Elmo UM Church. Contact Joe-d at pastor@saintelmo.org
